Chris Snopek

Christopher Charles Snopek (born September 20, 1970) is a former Major League Baseball infielder. He represented Team USA Baseball in the 2001 Baseball World Cup. He is an alumnus of the University of Mississippi.

    • He came in the top of the 8th inning, as a defensive replacement following a weird switch for the Boston Red Sox against the Baltimore Orioles. Mo Vaughn, the Red Sox’s first baseman, left the game following striking out in the bottom of the 7th. Designated hitter Mike Stanley switched positions to First Base, and pitcher Greg Swindell was inserted into the lineup for Vaughn. Third Baseman John Valentin, was replaced in the batting order by Mandy Romero who would play catcher in the field. Finally, Snopek entered into the game for catcher Jason Varitek, but played third base.
    • In a neat aside, his former teammate Lyle Mouton, who played on the same team as him during his debut game, played right field for the Orioles during his final appearance.2
